New Publishing Deal with North Star Media!

Hey Everyone,

I am very excited to share that I have signed a music publishing deal with North Star Media (Detroit/NY/LA/Miami)! This media company represents a huge catalog of music from Bruce Hornsby to Motorhead to Taj Mahal to Screaming Trees to my boy Jason Scavone, and so many more. The bros at North Star Media have treated your boy Jon Lindsay with nothing but the sweetest of hearts, and it has been a bromance from the first time we threw down on the town in the Dirty D[etroit] earlier this year, right after SXSW. I would be making music and coming to your town to sing it with my buddies for nothing but love – but it’s great to know that North Star Media is in our corner now, helping spread the gospel of my music past and present with the rest of our beloved existing kickass teammates Chocolate Lab Records, 1-up PR, Vulcan Army Booking, The Boris Group, Sioux Sioux Studios and of course, our fans, dammit! We love you.

So yeah, more details coming soon on this deal, and also more info about my next LP Summer Wilderness Program! We’ll tell you soon who is putting it out and what the street date will be (looking late fall 2011), but we’re still working on it, so thanks for your patience! What I can say is I’m bursting at the seams to share SWP with you more than you can possibly imagine!

In the meantime, keep it real, and come see us on tour this summer.

Love,
Jon Lindsay

Aight I'm Out Like A Trout!

Dudes! Can’t wait to see all of our friends and family on the West Coast this week. So glad to be coming back! Please get advance tix via the links on the home page or tour page. There are a lot of great bands playing on these shows with me and I’m very stoked for you to check them out as well. Lots of these shows start early in wonderful west coast fashion. Most show times are 8 sharp or 9 sharp, and USC is 7 sharp.

In other news, some great reviews came in this week for Escape From Plaza-Midwood. You can check it out at www.facebook.com/jonnywonder. Also, our Kickstarter Goal of $9,000 was met an exceeded by the best friends, fans and family in the word! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

Which brings me to the point that Summer Wilderness Program is in full effect!!! A few songs in the can, sounding amazing and lots of news coming soon on the first full band June tour (with slightly new lineup!), some really exciting festival dates, and we will soon be premiering the first single/title track from my side project The Catch Fire’s new album Rumormill, along with a sharp new video and other media.

Also, congrats to my pals the Avett Brothers for the Grammy performance, as well as hugs and nugs for my pally Nicole Atkins’ stellar new record Mondo Amore, and recent appearance on Conan.

Talk at your sweet faces soon my loves.

Vulcans, Best of 2010, Special Showsies, ETC!

It’s been a minute since we’ve talked. Where to begin? How about some exciting news? Ok then.

New Booking Agency! We have joined forces with awesome booking agency Vulcan Army Booking, who will be helping us play great shows in 2011! Check them out! They work with our friends Modern Skirts, Manray, Winter Sounds and lots of superb bands.

Best of 2010! It’s been really sweet to get featured on some Best of 2010 lists for Escape From Plaza-Midwood. Among others, so far we have received loving nods in Power of Pop, Shuffle Magazine, Sunset in the Rearview, and Performer Magazine has called the record “One of the best records to come out of the Southeast over the course of the decade”! We are thrilled to say the least…

New Videos! Our friend Colin Rich is an extremely talented filmmaker. He did one of the most creative vids we’ve seen in a while for the song “New English Magazines”. Check it out on vimeo here: http://vimeo.com/17395736.

Special Shows: I’ve added a ton of solo shows I didn’t even have time to play since I’m swamped making two albums right now (my next full-length Summer Wilderness Program and The Catch Fire’s debut Rumormill), but I’m glad I did because they’ve been badass. I particularly enjoyed my recent show at the Earl with dear old friends Modern Skirts and new friends Today The Moon, Tomorrow The Sun. Both bands shredded my face off. Today The Moon will be doing some shows with us in 2011…I’m sure we’ll play with the Skirts more soon too, and their new record Gramahawk is one of my favorite albums in recent memory.  But the most special show of them all is the Plaza-Midwood Christmas Party I’m hosting. There are about 12 amazing acts on this bill, it’s only $5, and at one of the coolest joints in town, Petra’s Piano Bar and Cabaret. Trust me you do not want to miss this show. Starts at 8pm sharp and goes till 2. There are writers, comedians, musicians and more. Go here for the event page!

Lots of other stuff afoot I can fill you in on soon, West Coast Solo tour, exciting lineup changes in the band, SXSW… but I gotta get outta here for now! See you shortly! Love, JL

Motown Philly back again (doing a lil east coast swing)

Phily! got to the Fire a little early, had a great hang sittin on our gear for a couple hours sippin gin and juice. soundman mr. dino was cool cool beans. he gave us the idea to tell chick filet we’re a christian band if we want free food for the whole band. apparently it works every time. our friend’s band everyday rockets called and dropped off the bill at the last minute, but there were still two other local bands that were sweet to hang with, lavis blake and gearings. both cool bands but def harder and louder than our pretty pop stylings. we brought the carolina dynamics on that ass; had the hammock spot and did our thing well. would def play this joint again. good vibes. oh, and i got to hang and catchup with my first real girlfriend Liz (from childhood), who now lives in jerz and came out to the show. surreal. postshow highlight was our crash pad in Jerz with Kizzy Kizyle’s good friends Charron and Greg. They had a keg of Victory Stormking going strong latenight and we put it down. check out the pick of the Bird going for the outside crash zone! cold out there, don’t know how he held up. Wally was sawing logs and the Bird chose the elements over said logs.

now it’s on to Piano’s in NYC. We play right at 8! roll out!

hearts,

JL

Dover/Phila Woot

so. we played golden fleece tavern last night in dover, DE. this is the oldest bar in the US and supposedly some parts of the Constitution were written here. really good vibes. the place is small like thomas street tav in Char or like Caledonia in athens GA or somewhere, real intimate and tight. crowd was enthusiastic all night, starting with Brett Harris solo they were with us from the start. brett killed it with a set of jams from his record “Man of a Few Words” and some covers. I played solo next, and the highlight for me was me and brett covering some Tomahawks (“where are you?”) and a couple other spicy numbers. full band set was next/last and we are really getting our set in the zone. crushed out 12 songs from EFPM and MW&tDS and then hit the windy rural DE roads for our crash pad, which was an absolute trip. we crashed in the sticks at this mansion owned by a local dude named Paul, who only drives corvettes and has a private music showcase venue upstairs in his 4 story crib. along with, let’s just say, an assortment of weird ass stuff. he cooked us a jammin breakfast and now we’re kickin it on the mean streets of philly, jammin on cheesetakes at O’neals and fittin to head to the FIRE soon for sound check. sorry for the brevity and solecisms, tight on time and we are letting it ripppppp.

love JL

Hitting the road tomorrow but first…

I leave tomorrow for NYC to play a couple concerts with Benji Hughes and a couple JL solo concerts (specifics on tour page).

But first! Mike, Walldorf and I are messing with the first couple song files to mix on Rumormill! This is the debut record for our powerpop band (also featuring John Cayes and Adam Roth) and let me tell you, it’s gonna be a goodun.
