Some special shows before full-band tour!

Hey y’all. Next week comes the formal announcement of all the national fall tour dates with the full band, but just a reminder that I’m doing some special extra stuff before then.

Im so stoked to be returning to Petra’s Piano Bar for a two-night stand of solo shows on Oct 8 and Oct 9 (click dates for the Facebook event pages). Opening acts include Justin Faircloth, Stephen Warwick, Dylan Gilbert and Jeremy Shane!

Then I’m up to New York for a couple shows with Benji Hughes on the 15th and 16th at Rockwood Music Hall and an off the radar event, respectively; then I’m staying for the 17th and 18th to do two very rad CMJ performances. I’m solo at Pete’s Candy Store in Brooklyn on the 17th, and solo at the world famous Delancey in Manhattan on the 18th.

Next it’s back to NC for a show with my powerpop band The Catch Fire, playing with Athens group Futurebirds at Snug Harbor on Oct 26th.

Following all this, the rest of the year’s tour is full-band shows up the east coast, in the Midwest, including a Daytrotter Session, then it’s back home to wrap up both pending albums: Summer Wilderness Program (JL), and Rumormill, by The Catch Fire.

Big news coming next week!

Those solo (and Benji date) dates again:

Oct 8: Jon Lindsay @ Petra’s Piano Bar and Cabaret, Charlotte, NC w/Justin Faircloth & Stephen Warwick

Oct 9: Jon Lindsay @ Petra’s Piano Bar and Cabaret, Charlotte, NC w/Dylan Gilbert

Oct 15: w/Benji Hughes @ Rockwood Music Hall, New York, NY

Oct 17: Jon Lindsay solo @ Pete’s Candy Store, Brooklyn, NY

Oct 18: Jon Lindsay solo @ The Delancey, New York, NY

Love,
JL

Oh snap, squiggles on a grid!

You know what this means? New songs out the anoose! The Catch Fire’s album Rumormill is nearing completion of tracking stage, and the next JL-full length, Summer Wilderness Program is being demoed harder than an abandoned crack house! Back to work! Zing-pha! Xoxo

Teams, Sweet Tweets, Croutons, Vitamins and Live Videos

so here i am on tuesday, 21st day of of the 9th month in the year 2010 of our lord Thor, and i am accomplishing a trifecta with this blog post. you see friends, the lovely and talented people who are on my “team” (gay sounding, right, but it’s actually rad) of folk who help keep this JL machine teetering precariously down its rickety road to GoodTimesville, have asked me to tweet, blog, and post video all in one day. they actually have been scolding me but i won’t tell on them because they give a shit, and that’s important. the streets are mean these days. so here’s the first part, the blog. what’s there to report? well i’m fighting off a cold and have been for a few days. interesting, yeah? wait, there’s more. not knowing whether or not we’re having a proper repast this evening, i jumped the gun, threw caution to the wind and ate a couple handfuls of croutons straight outta the bag. now i’m going to go walk the dog around our daily loop in my “grass cutters” (stained old new balances since i know everyone’s soooo curious), and after that, i’m gonna do the following things in no particular order:

watch an episode of Dexter; chug some emergenC; comp one last vocal track for the new The Catch Fire album “Rumormill” (which is rad as shit btw, can’t wait for everyone to hear this record); oh, i’m gonna go tweet til i’m all twatted out about this video from last night’s live broadcast of the band and i playing at Sioux Sioux Studios live on the interwebs…(two outta three right there on the video tip)

http://vimeo.com/15161925

and somewhere in there, hopefully eat some cheese. thanks to everyone that came out to the private show at Sioux. what else. lots of tour dates coming up. you know where to find em. adding shows in athens, wilmington, asheville. it’s on!

i’m also supposed to upload pics on my blog (FROM MY PHONE) so i can be as cool as bands on merge. but i haven’t figured that one out yet. babysteps. i’m tarded. sorry real tarded people. damn, see why i don’t blog? go buy my album or the children will cry!

4-STAR REVIEW OF ESCAPE FROM PLAZA-MIDWOOD!

Check out this 4-star album review by Blogcritics.org! an excerpt:

“More ear candy can be found on “Frequent Flyer,” while light organ runs and loud horns portray a summery on vibe on “The Launch Codes.” In fact, there’s so much cheery material here that you may even find your new favorite song of the summer somewhere in this pile of 15 tracks.

Jon Lindsay’s dynamic voice can have a slight nasal quality to it akin to Ben Kweller one minute, then soar into the reverb-aided air the next (as on “I Take Care Of You Now”).  His folky side comes off like a less depressed Elliott Smith, but it’s his wondrous pop sensibilities, which have drawn comparisons to pop rockers old and modern (from Warren Zevon and Elvis Costello to Guided By Voices and Rufus Wainwright) that have the critics going ga-ga over his work.

And why not? As if it wasn’t already evident given his prior history, Jon Lindsay proves on Escape From Plaza-Midwood he was born to rock, and in his own clever, creative and dynamic ways.   Be sure to pick up a copy of his debut record when it comes out later this month, as you’ll be spinning it a great while.”
