New EP! - "Happy Old Pictures"

Friends,

There is a new Jon Lindsay + NC Music Love Army recording in the works! It's a 6-track EP called Happy Old Pictures. It's being recorded with John Plymale at Overdub Lane in Durham - one of the best studios in NC (or anywhere!). The plan is to release digitally on October 7th and promote the tunes as heavily as possible in the 31 days prior to the 2016 election. There are physical CD's, too! They'll just be arriving a tad later in October, so we're going to have a big show/record release party at Kings Barcade on Oct 22nd, to put this physical product in your hands/ears! This EP contains songs that I truly believe can inspire folks; songs that ask some important questions about what kind of world we want to live in; and songs that directly confront some of the missteps in state and national political leadership that must be addressed by We The People (among other things). In short, I REALLY believe in where these tunes are coming from, and I'm excited about their potential to contribute to the ongoing, vital conversation we're having now (and should always have, elections on the horizon or not) about what truly defines us as North Carolinians, Americans, and most importantly, moral and ethical human beings. Here's the official announcement of the project via Creative Loafing. George and Christine Reddin are dear friends of mine, and more importantly, great friends of forward-thinking leaders, projects, ideas and values. They are hosting a fundraising party at their home this Saturday, September 10th (click here for details/to attend) to help us raise the money we'll need to record these songs quickly and expertly; manufacture + distribute CD's; market and promote the EP in the music and mainstream press; make music videos, and cover the entire budget of the project ($7,000 target), to bring these songs out as powerfully as possible. I'll be playing some of the new songs for you at the party, and my fantastic full band is going to put on a rock show just for you. We'll be playing songs from my new record Cities & Schools, and from the whole JL catalog. There will be food, drink, great times, and no doubt, some stimulating conversation. And of course, you'll have the ability to contribute some much-needed funds toward this project. Donations of any size come with the option to have your name included in the liner notes of the record, and of course, you can opt out if you'd like to remain a silent benefactor. But I certainly believe in having YOUR name on this thing if you helped contribute to its existence! Up to you. If you are unable to attend the party, you can contribute directly to the project here at the NC Music Love Army site. Just put "Happy Old Pictures" in the memo, and let us know if you'd like to be thanked or not on the CD. Please share this post with friends and family who might like to make their voices heard thru the power of heartfelt, original social-justice-oriented music! As always, I can't thank you enough for listening, spreading the word, and for your donations, without which, work like this just wouldn't be possible. Sincerely,
